We
Believe:
- that God existed before life began and that He created the entire
universe;
- that God is three persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ the
Son, and the Holy Spirit;
- that God created humanity both to bring honour and to be in
relationship with Him for all eternity;
- that Satan, an angel who chose to rebel against God, tempted
human beings. They obeyed him and in so doing rebelled against
God, thereby bringing sin into the world. This rebellion resulted
in separation from God and led to brokenness in all areas of life;
- that, rather than condemning all of creation however, God chose
to bring healing to the world's brokenness. His promises to restore
the world were fulfilled through the coming of His Son, Jesus
Christ;
- that over 2000 years ago, God sent His son Jesus to live as
a human being and then die on the cross. His death broke the bondage
of sin's penalty upon humanity. Jesus' resurrection offers humans,
and indeed the whole world, new life and hope that was not available
while sin separated the world from God;
- that salvation, or eternal life, is given as a gift by God to
humanity and that God is the one who initiates, enacts and sustains
this act of redemption in people's lives. People are simply called
to respond to God's work in faith;
- that the Holy Spirit is at work in the world, encouraging all
people to walk in harmony with God's will; He empowers believers
to live Christ-like lives and to draw others to God;
- that the Bible is the infallible Word of God;
- that God has chosen a people to call His own in this world.
God uses church members to be His primary earthly instrument,
to be God's visible presence here on earth:
· to tell the world of the good news of Jesus Christ
· to nurture growth among believers, and
· to love and care for all who need help in this broken and hurting
world.
