Local and World Missions

ClearView Christian Reformed Church is involved with a variety of missionary efforts that exist outside the walls of the Clearview community. This page outlines some of the missionaries and causes we support together as a congregation.

Christine DeVisser
Serving in Cameroon with Wycliffe Bible Translators

Did you know that 250 million people in more than 2,700 language groups still need God's Word? This is because the Bible, God's Holy Word, has not yet been translated in their language.

Christine DeVisser is a member of our congregation who has taken up the challenge to study linguistics and work with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Cameroon to translate the Bible into local languages. As a congregation, we support Christine and her important work through regular offerings and other fundraising efforts.

Adrian and Wendy Helleman
Missionaries in Jos, Nigeria with Christian Reformed World Missions

As a church family, we support the work of Adrian and Wendy Helleman through regular offerings at our worship services.

A Message from Adrian and Wendy:
We are beginning a new assignment at the University of Jos in Nigeria (UNIJOS) as professors in the department of religious studies. We have been specifically recruited to teach in the graduate program at the master's and doctoral degree levels.

Our arrival will help to stimulate a new program, aimed at seminary graduates who desire to obtain their higher education in Christian theology without leaving Nigeria. These students will come from the numerous seminaries in the Jos area, as well as other theological schools in Nigeria.

We will reinforce the Christian section of the department of religious studies, which also has sections for the study of Islam and traditional animistic religions. We will teach in our own areas of specialization: Adrian in systematic theology, especially in ecumenism, missiology and Reformational studies; Wendy in historical theology, in particular, patristics (the church leaders) and in New Testament Greek.

We are thankful to God for the support that we have enjoyed in the past, and thank you for your prayers and your very generous financial support. We urgently need you continued support in our new assignment. Please help us to prepare leaders for the churces in Nigeria and West Africa.

The Compass
Lakeshore Community Outreach Centre

Realizing the urgent need of those experiencing severe economic and social challenges, ten Christian churches in the Lorne Park/Clarkson area formed The Compass to address this serious and growing social concern within the community. The Compass provides relief to people struggling with life’s challenges. Through the building of relationships within the community and the member churches, we offer both practical and spiritual support. The Compass drop-in centre offers coffee, free groceries and household supplies on a voucher system, a safe place to visit, and prayer support when requested.

ClearView Christian Reformed Church supports the work of The Compass by collecting non-perishable food items on an ongoing basis and through regular offerings during our worship services.
