For
the Lord is good and his love endures forever; His faithfulness
continues

The
Early Years
The roots of the Christian Reformed
Church can be traced back to the Protestant Reformation of the
16th century. The first Christian Reformed Church in North America
was established in 1857. Today, ClearView Christian Reformed Church
is just one of over 900 Christian Reformed churches in North America.
Our congregation's history began shortly
after the second World War as thousands of European immigrants arrived
on the shores of Canada searching for a new beginning and a better
quality of life for their families. Among them were men, women and
children from the Netherlands. Several of these families settled
in the Port Credit / Clarkson area of Mississauga.
The small church began in 1948 with
two Dutch immigrant families and numerous single men. Worship services
took place initially in the United Church in Dixie and shortly afterward
in the Dixie Presbyterian Church. Although the founders spoke little
or no English, they decided from the very beginning to have at least
one worship service each Sunday spoken in the English language.
The church members' steadfast trust
in God led them towards a goal of creating a permanent place to
worship and to give thanks to God. In June of 1953, a property was
purchased in the village of Clarkson. Construction of a new building
began shortly afterward and the new church was officially opened
dedicated on March 2, 1955. The church adopted the name "Clarkson
Christian Reformed Church".
On
the Move to Clearview
Today our membership is increasingly reflective of the cultural
diversity of our community. Shortly after celebrating the church's
50th anniversary, a movement began to build a new church facility
to better meet the needs of our ministries and activities. On
May 12, 2002, the congregation voted in favour of selling our building
in Clarkson and constructing a new church facilty in the nearby
Oakville neighbourhood of Clearview. Construction began on the new
seven-acre site in February of 2004.
Upon completion of our new church in
November, 2004, the church's name was changed to ClearView Christian
Reformed Church to reflect our new community. We are excited to
be a part of the Clearview community and trust that God will continue
to be faithful in this new chapter of His church.
Praise
God from whom all blessings flow!
May He continue to direct our steps in the future.
