DeVries, Hannah Schreutelkamp and Kyle van der Boom) as they attend SERVE in Michigan
from August 2 to August 9. Staff Vacation
I will be away on vacation from August 2nd, returning on August 12th.
-Jacqui Cornelisse Food
For Life You have no doubt seen the ad on the sign out front. Every Tuesday
morning, we are a drop in centre for Food For Life, an organization that picks
up perishable foods from various grocery stores and drops these at points throughout
the city for pick up by those with an identified need. ClearView
church is not managing this program. We are strictly a drop-off location and the
project is managed by Food For Life in partnership with Halton Housing, with the
assignment of a coordinator from Sheridan Woods (across the street from the church).
We are privileged to be able to serve the community in this way and ask that you
all would pray that those who need this service the most would not let anything
stand in the way of utilizing it. Pennies
for AIDS Kids, don’t forget to save up your pennies and bring them in
anytime to build our mountain of hope to fight against AIDS in Africa, Asia and
Latin America. Come Celebrate with
Us! Rick Nanninga, a former pastor of this church, is celebrating 25 years
in the ministry as well as turning 50 years old. These milestones will be recognized
at an open house at the Fellowship CRC of Brighton ON. on Aug 30 from 1-4 pm.
All are welcome to attend. What to
Do, What to Do? Are you wondering how you can serve or serve in a different
way beginning now or in the fall? Are you new to ClearView or have you been here
a few years and feel like you just are not fitting in. I would love to sit down
with you and discuss what would be the best fit for your spiritual gifts, personality
style and passion. I will make myself available this coming week, day or evening
as well as the weeks following my return from vacation (August 12th). Please call
ahead for an appointment. Jacqui Cornelisse – Ministries & Outreach Coordinator

Sea Bike Tour The Sea to Sea Bike Tour will only be crossing through Canada
for a few days on its 2008 Tour in August. There is only one Canadian Rally being
held on August 24th at Queenston Heights, Niagara Falls, Ontario. We want to invite
as many as possible to attend this event to show our Canadian hospitality and
support and encourage our Canadian cyclists and neighbour US cyclists. Order
of Canada Much concern has been expressed with Dr. Morgantaler's appointment
to this, the highest honour that a civilian can receive. The Canadian Ministries
Office of the Christian Reformed Church commends the resources of the Evangelical
Fellowship of Canada on this issue. Concerned Christian Reformed Church members
and affiliates are encouraged to act by visiting: www.evangelicalfellowship.ca
or call 613-233-9868. There is also a package of materials available at the Welcome
Desk for those who wish to learn more or take action in writing to the Governor
General, Prime Minister and/or their Member of Parliament.

Youth Ministries SERVE This
week I (Pastor John) will be leading the Junior Serve team (James Eerkes, Alex
Leo, Reuben DeVries, Justin Loo, Kyle van der Boom, and Hannah Schreutelkamp)
to Byron Centre, Michigan. We are staying at Friendship Christian Reformed CHurch
and we will be serving with Byron Center ministries and Annetta Jansen ministries.
Our work sites will consist of home repair, painting, yard cleanup, and working
at a food pantry. On Wednesday we will enjoy a day of fun on Lake Michigan. (We
hope and pray for a sunny day because the beach on a rainy day... well we prefer
the sun). We are excited to have Joleen
DeHeer as our speaker and a praise team lead by Tim Kuperus. SERVE is not only
a great opportunity to help out people and organizations who need some practical
physical help but is also a great opportunity for our youth to be challenged and
encouraged in their relationship with Jesus. That's important because our vision
is 'young adults insanely in love with Jesus Christ'. I
personally enjoy the opportunities these missions trips give to get to know the
different kids by being able to spend a significant amount of time with them.
I am also excited that we will grow together as a group. Please pray for us each
day this week! "I am going to
University!" Does this statement apply to you? If so you are invited
to two nights in which we will hang out and talk about what you can expect, what
you need to be prepared for and have an opportunity for you to talk to some of
your peers who recently made the transition from mom's cooking to food service.
The nights are Wednesday August 13 and Wednesday August 20. We will meet at 7:30. Are
you a young adult who never made profession of faith but are interested in possibly
doing that now? If so we are having a special summer session for exploring
whether making profession of faith is right for you. Joining this small group
does not presuppose that you will make profession of faith but gives you an opportunity
to task some tough questions in an environment where no one is going to judge
you or try to change you. It is seriously a lot of fun. If you are interested
please call or email Pastor John. A suitable time and location will be determine. |
