What We Believe

We believe that “What do you believe?” is a very important question for anyone who is looking for a church community. Here’s a sketch of our fundamental beliefs at ClearView. If you have questions about anything you read, please feel free to contact Pastor Geoff at

What we believe...

about ourselves as humans

We believe that every human being has value and is worthy of respect and honour. The heart of that conviction rests in our belief that we are all created as image bearers of God himself.  We also live with a healthy awareness of the fact that, because we all have hearts clouded by sin, we drop the ball and mess things up in our words, actions and hearts. Finally, we believe that this is a problem we cannot solve ourselves -- we need help.

about God

We believe in not only the existence of God, but that, though only one God, He is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We are convinced that God is interested in having a close relationship with us as individuals, families and communities. We also believe that God is very concerned with the overall redeeming and transforming of the world in which we live. He has a plan for this world and for our lives, and he is in control of it all.

about Jesus

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We affirm that He was fully God and fully human and that he was sent by God the Father to die on the cross and rise again from the dead. In so doing He paid our debt to God for our sinfulness, and He makes the forgiveness of our sins possible. Jesus also announced a new way to live in this world as his disciples. We believe that a life lived in discipleship/apprenticeship to Jesus is fuller and infinitely more meaningful.

about life

We think life is an adventurous gift from God. We are convinced that it is best lived in deep relationship with God and others. God desires for us to enjoy life and to use the gifts He gave us to live it to the full.

about the Bible

We believe that the Bible is the true, inspired word of God, and that everything contained within it is just as relevant for life today as when it was penned. We affirm that the Bible is God's infallible message for a hurting world. It reveals the heart and purposes of God in this world and as such is our best rule for life and practice.
